Fidelma, the 'Elder Honey', started it all! She formed 'Girl-Talk' back in the day, specialising at first in 3-part close harmony swing music, and later extending to a more pop feel. The band has come full circle, and marked its return to vintage Swing/Boogie-woogie/Jazz style with a new name, The Honeydews.
Over the years the band has worked in many settings, starting with the Hot City Orchestra, a Dublin based big band, with whom they were the vocal act. They also toured extensively with Frank McNamara's Peach County Big Band. Later came concerts in Sweden, Denmark, London, Poland, Portugal and Italy, as well as all the top venues in Ireland, with among others the RTE Concert Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Danish Symphony Orchestra.
The band has played at all major festivals and gala events in Ireland, like the Cork Jazz Festival where they headlined in the Opera House, The Rose of Tralee Ball, The Trinity Ball, the Horse Show Ball, and the 'Downton Abbey' themed Ball in Bellinter House. Most recent events include the Keith Duffy Foundation Christmas Ball 2017, the Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta 2017, and the RSGYC Regatta 2018.
They have also played at wedding receptions, office parties, golf clubs, corporate functions, and birthday parties, from large ballrooms to intimate venues (including a kitchen!).
